| Breakout Session | Technical session delivered by product group personnel, often focused on one Technical Expertise. | 1 to 1½ hours |
| Product Group Evening Event | Casual, networking evening event with drinks and food, giving an opportunity to meet and talk with product group personnel from Technical Expertise. | Up to 3 hours |
| Side Session | Typically not a technical product session but rather one whose focus targets a broader audience. Often the topic is a Microsoft program or MVP community. | 1 to 2 hours |
| Pre & Post Session | Sessions or activities not held at Summit facilities and which are often held a day or two before/after the official Summit starts/ends. These events are often community building events and/or events where MVPs themselves are the presenters. | Ranging from ½ day to 2 days |
